    Wines In This Pack
    1 x Mitolo Serpico Cabernet 2018 (RRP $89.00)
    McLaren Vale, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 93pts Wine Advocate
A groundbreaking Aussie Cabernet in as much as it is made in the Amarone style, with grapes air dried for up to 8 weeks prior to fermentation. It is both concentrated and ethereal with florals and black tea on the nose – the palate awash with chocolate, coffee, cassis, blueberries, herbs, licorice and minerality. Double or triple decant a few hours before drinking.
    1 x Irvine Grand Merlot 2017 (RRP $150.00)
    Eden Valley, SA
    95pts Sam Kim
Aussie Merlot doesn’t get more complex or highly awarded than Irvine’s Grand Merlot, twice recipient of the best Merlot in the world award. Recent releases are even better structured and more lively and we are confident will improve for 10 years plus. The 2017 retains the power and complexity of previous editions and offers plum, blueberries, fig, five spice and dark chocolate. Decant for several hours before drinking.
    McLaren Vale, SA
Gold Medal, 96pts Sam Kim, 96pts Kim Brebach
This is a full bodied beast of a Shiraz. We reckon this one will improve with cellaring for 20 years, such is its structure and depth of blue and black fruits. Length and persistence are exceptional. An exceptional follow up to the highly awarded 2016 vintage.
    McLaren Vale, SA
Gold Medal, 97pts Sam Kim, 94pts James Halliday, 95pts The Real Review, 95pts Bob Campbell
This is unequivocally an even better edition of the Martin’s than we have seen previously, which is perhaps no surprise given it is a product of the 2018 vintage. Again, we see relatively low alcohol for a big Aussie red which, perhaps counterintuitively, allows the wine to appear as more fruit dense and concentrated than it might if it were half a degree or a full degree more ‘potent’. Fruits are blacks and blues, depth and length are superb, cedar and vanilla are a perfumed accompaniment to the fruit rich nose, and the tannins, polished, waxy and plentiful. The overall package, outstanding!
    1 x Pasha McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018 (RRP $100.00)
    McLaren Vale, SA
Gold Medal, 96pts Winestate, 95pts Ned Goodwin, 95pts Kim Brebach, 96pts Sam Kim, 93pts James Halliday
This is thrilling! It’s old-school but perfectly balanced. ‘Tis packed with uber ripe, suppurating black fruits, dark cherry, compote, notes of furniture polish and spice, black pepper, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. The richness is tamed with good acidity, providing a backbone for all that expressiveness to hang on to and in so doing, show to best effect. Stunning!
    Coonawarra, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 94pts Tony Love
A classic in the making and one of the very best Cabs we have seen this year. It is rich, yet perfectly structured, flawlessly long and finishes with plenty of fine tannins. It is already lovely but will cellar for 20 years. Cassis, mint, chocolate, dried herbs, dark fruit and just a touch of assertively angular greenery. Sorry, this product is not available individually, only in the pack(s) below.
    Clare Valley, SA
97 pts Kim Brebach, 95pts Sam Kim
Meymans vineyard provides the foundation for Kilikanoon's Covenant Shiraz. The fruit in this 2018 vintage is deep, rich, black and voluptuous, the oak controlled and cedary, the tannins fine and plentiful. According to Kim Brebach this vintage is a …’perfect pitch, stunning wine. Already drinking well but the balance suggests it will last for 10 years or more. 97+ points’
    Barossa Valley, SA
94pts Kim Brebach, 94pts Sam Kim, 92pts James Halliday
The Lienert’s have been farming in the Barossa for 150 years and decided to add some vines to their property about 20 years ago. The first fruit from 2004 and 2005 vintages went straight to the pool room, aka into Penfold’s St Henri. Funnily enough they then planted a lot more vines and introduced many more clonal variations of Shiraz. When they decided to start making booze, we conspired with them to come up with a wine from the best parcels of their best seven clonal selections of Shiraz. The intention – to make a wine which is floral and beguiling on the nose, densely fruited on the palate, long, complex and bloody awesome. For this very special wine, each clone was harvested and fermented separately (you can see details on the clones below!) with the harvest date chosen to allow each grape to express its best characters. The case of EVOS12 (Eden Valley clone) was harvest earlier than the others to allow for a beautiful perfume and liveliness in the final wine. Fermentation is done in tiny open top fermenters which are hand plunged up to four times a day. Certain clones are fermented cooler to better express delicate aromatics whilst some are plunged and pumped over to achieve a more structural element. The trick is finding the right balance. Anyways, we love this wine and encourage you to give it a rip.
    Clare Valley, SA
93pts Kim Brebach, 92pts Sam Kim
This is a stunning varietal Cabernet built for the long haul. An hour or two of breathing sees a beautiful perfume emerge, which coalesces with rich fruits to form a deep palate packed with violet, blackcurrant, earth and tomato leaf. Perfect with a big lump of protein. Drink any time over the next 15 years.
    Barossa Valley, SA
96pts James Halliday, 93pts Real Review
An opulent wine grown and vinified on the ancient soils of Marananga, a sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Fruits are blue and black, the length and concentration exceptional, and furry tannins to finish. Just entering its prime, this wine has a good decade ahead of it.
    Barossa Valley, SA
95pts Kim Brebach, 94pts Sam Kim
A truly beautiful and fruit driven blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. The Grenache here brings spice, confected notes, raspberries, rhubarb and sour cherry. The Mataro offers chocolate, brooding brambles and other slightly angry things sourced from dungeons deep. The Shiraz brings blue and black fruits, chocolate and fine, fine tannins. It’s a mad mélange this, one we’ll tip our hat to, whilst asking for it to be filled.
    1 x Glenlofty Estate Shiraz 2017 (RRP $32.00)
    Pyrenees, Vic
Gold Medal - 2020 Royal Adelaide Wine Show, Gold Medal and Top Gold Medal- 2021 Royal Adelaide Wine Show
A powerful wine this, redolent of blackberries and graphite. We also found red fruits and black cherries and spice from the high-quality French oak. Excellent already after decanting, this also has a very long life ahead of it.

Some familiar faces in this pack, but the exciting thing is, many of them are new vintages! Martins Limited Series Shiraz 2016 was a staple and has been enjoyed for a long time, but we now have the 2018 vintage, which is a big step up in quality and will be as well received by ANZ Staff Club, we’re sure. Another returning vintage is the Curtis Limited Series Shiraz with the 2018. Like the 2016 vintage, it has smooth balanced oak, and plush black and red fruit. Long time ANZ Staff Club members would remember the Irvine Grand Merlot from the 2009 and 2012 vintages, but those new to it, Irvine make the countries best Merlot, without question! The Pasha Bin 388 Shiraz is a relative newcomer compared to the others but rounds out the 3 figure RRP wines. It is rich, long and smooth and has all the hallmarks of a long stint in the cellar, but if you’re impatient, you can have it now with an hour in the decanter. Due to a big resurgence in the popularity in Cabernet Sauvignon, we present you three amazing Cab’s from three exceptional Cabernet Regions, Penna Lane from Clare, Schoolhouse Headmaster from Coonawarra and Mitolo Serpico from McLaren Vale, all amazing and great displays of the terroir. Representing blends, we have the Kilikanoon Meymans Shiraz Cabernet, which I would argue is better than the straight Shiraz with more plush and rich flavours. The other is the Mad Hatter Grenache Mataro Shiraz, a special wine made by Ox Hardy especially for and perfectly balances all three components to make a lovely blend! The final three are all Shiraz. The Sieben Klon from the Lienert brothers has been a big hit with regulars and we are very happy to have their stunning Barossa Shiraz on board. A great example of barrel blending and how it can create a very unique wine. The Glenlofty Shiraz 2017 won a Top Gold medal at the 2020 Royal Adelaide Wine Show and topped it off with a Gold medal at the most recent Royal Adelaide Wine Show, so you know it has pedigree AND staying power. Finally, an aged beauty from Hare’s Chase in Marananga which scored a mighty 96 pts from James Halliday. ‘Tis the season indeed.
