Vegan Red Wines

Grapes are vegan. Wine is made from grapes. So… aren’t all wines automatically vegan?

Although it may be surprising, there are many non-vegan wines out there, so if you’re looking for vegan wines, you’ll need to check the label (or browse our collection below so you know you’re getting wine that’s free from animal products).

How can wine be non-vegan? Traditionally, animal products like egg white, milk powder, gelatin, or even a product made from fish bladder are used in a process known as fining (clarifying). Wines that have been made using these animal products are not vegan, but there are increasingly popular alternatives for fining vegan friendly red wine nowadays.

For this reason, vegan red wine is more common than it was a few years ago, and the great news is that the quality isn’t affected by using these new fining alternatives. All our vegan red wines have been approved by our selective tasting panel, so you can be confident that whether you’re vegan or not, you’ll love them!
