Fair call too, as they contained genuinely excellent wines at quaffing prices. The Scepters, which are from the Coonawarra and Barossa respectively, are varietal and full-flavoured, showing a deft winemaking hand and concentrated fruit. Dowie Doole's flagship, the very limited Architect Cab, is a $90-a-bottle thriller from the stunning '21 vintage. Just settling into its bones, the quality and power of fruit is already in evidence. Decant or, better still, cellar for a bit - this is on the way to turning itself into something very special. The bonus? A bottle of Yaldara's $250-a-bottle Grand Cuvee Barossa Shiraz.
