Sparkling White Wines
We’ve seen a massive rise in the quality of sparkling white wines in Australia – particularly, to our tastes, in the Adelaide Hills and Pyrenees... and we love it in all the shapes and forms it comes in... Methode Traditionelle, Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Blanc de Blancs, non-vintage or vintage – if it's got bubbles in it, we’ll have a look at it. If it’s any good, it’s listed below...
- Leconfield Syn Cuvee Blanc NV$22.00A remarkably fresh sparkling white made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit from the Coonawarra. It has a lively, creamy, mousse and a full, supple body. (And yes, much better looking than Abbott in Speedos). Enjoy it now in all its youthful glory as an aperitif, or with shellfish and seafood. Syn(ful) indeed! Learn More
- Leconfield Syn Sparkling Coonawarra Rosé$22.00A slightly pink sparkling this one. It’s labelled rosé but to us seems much more like a traditional cool climate Chardy Pinot sparkling and a bloody good one at that. It has a very fine bead, aromas of stonefruit and red fruits along with a little brioche. Flavours follow suit and introduce cherries and a creamy aspect. This is delicious. Learn More
- Tomich 'T' Sparkling NVSpecial Price $26.00 Regular Price $30.00Depth and freshness are keywords here, as this wine offers both clarity of fruit and oodles of flavour. Red apple and mushroom, minerality and excellent acidity. It is lively enough to work as an aperitif or with fresh oysters and has the power to work beautifully with more robust seafood dishes. - Villa Fresco by Pizzini Frizzante NVSpecial Price $20.00 Regular Price $25.00A brilliantly drinkable sparkling made by Pizzini wines from King Valley Fruit. This is an exceptionally refreshing wine offering lemon sherbet, apples, powdered ginger and more. Works well as an aperitif, with antipasto, prosciutto pizza and seafood. We reckon you’ll definitely want a second glass. Learn More
- Wicks Estate 'Pamela' Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2016$35.00Truly a modern classic, this Adelaide Hill Sparkling is all about high-quality fruit spending 5 years on lees to develop texture and complexity. There’s a full, rich mouthfeel and texture and delicate toasty notes of warm honey, brioche, ginger, grapefruit, green apple, and more. The length and intensity are fantastic. Learn More
