Adelaide Hills, SA Red Wines
The GI (Geographic Indicator) region of South Australia’s Adelaide Hills is one of Australia’s premier cool-climate wine growing areas.
Located just outside of the city of Adelaide, and nestled between the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills is a large, diverse region that includes two sub-regions: Piccadilly Valley and Lenswood.
With around 50 cellar doors along its narrow 70km stretch, Adelaide Hills boasts altitudes of up to 650 metres, meaning it has a cooler climate than the surrounding wine regions. Sauvignon Blanc is the most commonly grown grape in the Adelaide Hills, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
