Here at winedirect.com.au we live, breathe and drink wine... and occasionally we help make it, too. In March, we left the office for a couple of days to get some hands-on experience at Curator Wine Co. for 2024 vintage.
It's become something of an annual tradition for the winedirect.com.au crew, so when Tom White invited us back to work with him and his winemaking team during 2024 vintage, we jumped at the chance. We spent two days mastering new skills and working hard to make some wines that we know will be amazing... we're already huge fans of Curator Wine Co.
We were given plenty of real winemaking experience, from seeing grapes being brought in on a truck to testing temperature and baume, cleaning barrels, tasting wine right out of the fermenters, punching down (and getting a hell of a workout in the process), pouring over, and giving plenty of attention to Alfie, the coolest vineyard dog in town.
We worked hard, had a couple of spills, and learned a lot about the winemaking process. It somehow makes the end result taste even better, knowing what goes into the making of it.
Now all we have to do is wait for the 2024 vintage wines to be ready so we can crack a bottle and see for ourselves. But in the meantime, check out our current selection of Curator Wine Co. - and trust us, they're all excellent drops.
