Farmer’s Leap Lienert Vineyards Red Wine Packs

Just the good stuff here for less than $25 a bottle. These have all picked up 95 points or more somewhere and deservedly so.

The Brothers at War picked up a Gold medal and was just pipped for a Trophy at the Adelaide Show. Metala’s ‘1891’ Cab just scored 95 from Kim Brebach who called it a powerhouse and worth every penny of its asking price.

The Lienert Shiraz is made by former Penfolds St Henri growers and has exceptional clarity and depth of fruit. Kim Brebach gave it 95 as did Ray Jordan who called it exquisitely poised, with driving intensity, an excellent wine.

The Cutis Small Batch sports 96pts. and is old vine, black fruited, full tilt, McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Finally, the Yaldara Grand also has 2x96 and a 95’er and is incredible- mixing black fruited power with a elegance which makes it something very special indeed.

Sometimes you just want a red with a bit of experience under its belt- still offering the vivacious fruit of youth but with the rough edges knocked off, the fruit if anything more vibrantly on show thanks to the more harmonious structure underpinning it. So here’s a collection of pearlers, counting amongst their number are wonderful wines from Dandelion, Heirloom, Mitchell, Jeanneret, Kilikanoon, Chateau Bernot from Bordeaux, and more. All lovely, we promise!

Three Shiraz you could cellar but will give a heap of pleasure if you rip into them over the next year or so.

There’s the Yarra, made by a former Penfolds Grange maker, with its medium bodied fruit and savoury notes. The Tomich Woodside is consistently one of the best Shiraz outta the Adelaide Hills and the Sieben Klon is a big, black, structural Barossa beast with heaps of Generous fruit. All this for just $15 a bottle.

Yep, for the first time ever, we’ve managed to squeeze 6 trophies into the official Royal Adelaide Wine Show Red Dozen. The quality of each wine is utterly exceptional. Every wine in this dozen was not just a gold medal winner, but the equal best pointed wine in their class in initial judging. As you’d expect, quite a few have done well elsewhere too. The Majella Cab is Winestate’s Cabernet of the year and has won 4 trophies to date. The Redbrook Shiraz has picked up 9 gold medals elsewhere. We suspect stock of this pack will sell fast. 6 amazing Grenache. 2 vintages of Heirloom Alcala- one of which won the Decanter Trophy as best Grenache in the world, plus the 21 vintage Alcala which Halliday scored 95. Both are magnificent. There’s Dandelion’s Treasure Trove Grenache which the Halliday Wine companion describes as having both sublime fruit and (a supportive) structural latticework. There’s Brothers at War Peacekeeper Grenache which was just pipped for a trophy at the Adelaide Wine Show. Also, Kilikanoon’s magnificent 1946 plantings Walton’s Grenache, a $96 a bottle, full throttle stunner, and finally the Lienert Sieben Klon Grenache – the Grenache us windirecties have ordered more of to take home than any other this year.
