A wonderful selection of red wines from the Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley. The Sieben Klon is a 95 pointer made by former St Henri growers, the Metala Legacy is as good a Cab as the Langhorne can make (which is mighty fine). Dowie Doole's Shiraz has black fruits, but also, and much rarer, blue fruits too. It is a belter. If all Shiraz had black and blue fruits, no one would buy anything else! Lone Palm's Old Vine Grenache will sell out in a few months and the Angas King Reserve is incredibly fresh for its age and has at least a decade ahead of it. Sometimes only a chilled glass of Sauv Blanc will do. So here’s six exceptional examples for you to have a crack at... from Margaret River, Pemberton and the Adelaide Hills. Oatley’s Margs SBS picked up a Trophy and golds at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and offers a beguiling mix of passionfruit, lime zest, white pepper and greenery. Picardy’s Sauv Blanc Sem (85% SB) is superb, with crisp fruit and great texture. No surprises that it has picked up a 96. Three distinct clones of SB are used along with 2 different yeast strains. On opening it seems soft and delicate but as it airs, minerality, guava, lime, passionfruit and all manner of complexities emerge. The Chain of Ponds SB is crisp and offers a lovely mix of greenery and passionfruit. The Riposte, made by the Legendary Tim and Nick Knappstein is textural, succulent and pungent, a joy to drink. Howard are major growers in the Adelaide Hills and supply substantial quantities of fruit to what are arguably the two best known producers of SB in the region. This, their own bottling, is of course excellent too. Finally the Cape Jaffa SB is also lovely with tropical fruits, citrus and more are at play. Learn More

Complex 2018 Bordeaux, magnificent 95 point Grenache from Dandelion which was sourced entirely from their Firehawk Farm vineyard and a magic blend of air-dried Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot from the Veneto. A tiny production, single vineyard Riesling from the Eden, textural and aromatic Sauv Blanc from legend Tim Knappstein, fragrant and creamy PG and a zesty Sauv Blanc from Chain of Ponds. An assembly of our favourite Grenache and blends at the mo. Multiple trophy winning Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM, trophy winning Kilikanoon Prodigal, Curtis' 96 point old viner and Lone Palm's old vine 95 pointer all offer power to burn but with a brightness of fruit that is very much the modern way. The Lienert and Brother's at War are lighter Grenache, but not wishy washy. Both of these offer exceptional red fruits, excellent acidity and whisper fine tannins. We love all 6 of these wines. We kick off with the celebrated Heirloom Alcala Grenache. The '22 picked up the Decanter Trophy for world's best Grenache in a substantial field of heavy hitting Grenache from Aus, France, Spain, California and more. There's also Lone Palm's Old Vine Grenache, a wine made in tiny quantities which we rate as highly as the Alcala. Then the Sieben Klon, a multi clonal, ethereal Barossa Grenache which is altogether lighter, but no less compelling. From there, excellent examples of Tempranillo, Montepulciano and Sangiovese made by Mike Farmilo, who used to make Penfolds Grange. These are genuinely excellent too! Learn More

The Curtis Small Batch might just be the best wine they have ever made – with fabulous black fruit intensity with judicious acidity and plenty of tannins driving through to an epic conclusion.

The Lone Palm, off 60-year-old Barossa Vines is packed with deep black and blue fruits, graphite, gun smoke and cedar. This is handpicked, hand plunged and basket pressed belligerence!

The Red Deer is exceptionally brightly and intensely fruited, with long black and red fruits finished with spindles of oak and fine tannins.
