Montara Chalambar Road Shiraz 2018
Special Price $80.00 Regular Price $82.00
A deeply concentrated and complex, old vine Shiraz that drinks well now but has a lot of improvement ahead of it. We found red and black fruits, cocoa, black pepper and plenty of very high-quality oak. A stunner.
Vines were first planted in the Grampians post the gold rush, by a couple of Frenchmen in 1858. In 1970 to McRae family established Montara vineyards on the eastern slopes of Mount Chalambar and released their first wines in 1977. The vines are planted in well drained, rich red loam soil over a gravel and shale base. The plantings of Shiraz, Pinot and Riesling are all over 40 years of age.
