Every now and then a plan comes together. This time, it’s the creation of a reasonably priced Cab dozen which includes Winestate Magazine’s Cabernet of the year! And not just one bottle, we’ve managed to fit 4 bottles of it into this pack!

You’ll also be getting 4 of Kilikanoon’s sumptuous 95pt Cab, and 4 of Karl’s Scepter’s 94pt, complex and cedary Coonawarra Cab. Finally, we’ve managed to include a bot of Yaldara’s Grand Cab Shiraz, a 96pt, $200 a bottle, Barossa stunner!

There really isn't a weak link in this pack. From the Mike Farmilo (ex Penfolds Grange) made Temp and Sangio, to the Brothers at War gold winning and Halliday 95 pointed Grenache, which is as powerful as it is light on its feet. The Mazza Touriga is a ripper too, tiny production, epic aromatics and a softness which belies its complexity. To seal the deal, Kilikanoon's Prodigal Grenache, awarded best Grenache of Show at the incredibly competitive Royal Adelaide Wine Show, and the just released, and even more sharply limited Walton's Grenache, sourced from a tiny block planted in 1946. An assembly of our favourite Grenache and blends at the mo. Multiple trophy winning Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM, trophy winning Kilikanoon Prodigal, Curtis' 96 point old viner and Lone Palm's old vine 95 pointer all offer power to burn but with a brightness of fruit that is very much the modern way. The Lienert and Brother's at War are lighter Grenache, but not wishy washy. Both of these offer exceptional red fruits, excellent acidity and whisper fine tannins. We love all 6 of these wines. The wines may all be red, but the variety here comes from the different varietals and regions it showcases.

Every wine in this dozen was not just a gold medal winner, but the equal best pointed wine in their class in initial judging. As you’d expect, quite a few have done well elsewhere too. The Majella Cab is Winestate’s Cabernet of the year and has won 4 trophies to date. The Redbrook Shiraz has picked up 9 gold medals elsewhere. We suspect stock of this pack will sell fast.
