The Stunning Baker's Dozen

Baker's dozens have been flying out the door of recent times, so after much chin stroking, we thought we'd best make a new one. Cracking booze too, with 95+ point stunners from Lone Palm, Lienert, Curtis, Red Deer and more and the debut of Karl's Scepter's Barossa Cab. It's a punchy beast - you might need to chargrill a T-Bone to tame it. Let us know how you get on.

    Wines In This Pack
    McLaren Vale, SA
96pts Kim Brebach, 96pts Sam Kim, 95pts Ray Jordan
This is a big cedary and black fruited beast of a Shiraz that is already drinking magnificently, but will also cellar for a decade or more. The structure and depth of black and blue fruits, and the length and persistence are exceptional.
    Barossa Valley, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 93pts Ken Gargett, 93pts Kim Brebach
Wow! Full bodied, deep black and packed black fruits, gunsmoke, graphite and cedar. Immediately appealing though this is, it is absolutely worth decanting and will cellar for 15+ years. The fruit is hand picked, hand plunged and basket pressed before spending 14 months in mostly old French oak.
    McLaren Vale, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 95pts Kim Brebach, 94pts Ken Gargett
A black, plush, and full-bodied Shiraz made from 80-year-old vines. Exceptional fruit intensity here, and weight of black fruits on the palate. Opulence is balanced by judicious acidity and there’re plenty of tannins driving through to an epic conclusion. Decant if you are going to enjoy now, otherwise cellar!
    Barossa Valley, SA
95pts Kim Brebach, 95pts Ray Jordan, 94pts Sam Kim
An exceptional wine, even more powerfully fruited than the 2019. Made by former Penfolds St Henri growers, the Lienert brothers. Each of the 7 distinct clones were harvested and fermented separately with the harvest date chosen to best allow each grape to express its best characters. For instance, the EVOS12 (Eden Valley clone) was harvested earlier than the others to allow for a beautiful perfume and liveliness in the final wine. Fermentation is done in tiny open top fermenters which are hand plunged up to 4 times a day. Certain clones are fermented cooler to better express delicate aromatics whilst some are plunged and pumped over heavily to achieve a more structural element. The trick is finding the right balance. Anyways, we love this wine and encourage you to give it a rip.
    Barossa Valley, SA
    93pts Sam Kim
A powerful Barossa Cab which announces itself with varietally appropriate aromatic lift in the form of violets and greenery. The palate is concentrated, replete with blackcurrant and blackberries along with macerating cherries and spice. Plenty of cedar and plenty of fine to medium weight tannins to finish. Begging for a rare to medium T-Bone.
    Barossa Valley, SA
94pts Sam Kim, 92pts Kim Brebach
A rich and satisfying, full bodied Barossa Shiraz offering generous and intense dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, cherries, plum and spice. Cedary oak is evident too. Ask us about mates rates on this one!
    Langhorne Creek, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 93pts Kim Brebach
An exceptional, brightly, and intensely fruited medium-bodied Shiraz sourced from 50-year-old Langhorne Creek vines. Bold red and black fruits are bolstered by good acidity. The wine is finished with vanilla, spindles of oak, and fine tannins.
