First Creek's Vermentino is world class, perfumed and replete with tropical fruits, citrus, minerality and more. Mitchell's Peppertree is an old vine, medium bodied, gently fruited and savoury Clare Valley classic. A wonderful mix ready to drink any time over the next year or two. We lead off with Curtis’ silver medal point Riesling which is textural and packed with fruit. The Growers Gate Pg is easy drinking, with great texture and plenty of pear flavour and the Curtis Heritage Chard is crisp and linear with citrus, peach and honeydew melon. The Yarra Shiraz is mid weight, spicy and offering lovely fruit definition, the Scepter Shiraz offers strident black fruits and fine tannins, and Red Deer's 2019 Cabernet offers power and elegance.

We did a double take when this landed on the tasting bench. This is full bodied, ripe, plush and powerfully fruited. Softened a little by 7 years cellaring, it is drinking magnificently now. We wondered if it would age, so came back to the same bottle 30 hours later and it was even better. Four stunning reds which can be enjoyed now, though we recommend decanting all but the Yarra Celebration, which is a cellared release and ready to rip right now. Yaldara's Premier Cuvee is powerful, black fruited Barossa loveliness, The Yarra Celebration is blue fruited, savoury and spiced and the Karl's Scepter Barossa is a full bodied, chocolaty beauty. An assembly of our favourite Grenache and blends at the mo. Multiple trophy winning Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM, trophy winning Kilikanoon Prodigal, Curtis' 96 point old viner and Lone Palm's old vine 95 pointer all offer power to burn but with a brightness of fruit that is very much the modern way. The Lienert and Brother's at War are lighter Grenache, but not wishy washy. Both of these offer exceptional red fruits, excellent acidity and whisper fine tannins. We love all 6 of these wines.
