Ciabot Berton is based in Piedmont in La Morra, one of the finest Barolo producing communes. They also make Barbera, this one being an absolute stunner. Less than 1000 cases of this Barbera is produced annually, and it offers a red fruited nose, a dense and fleshy palate bedecked with black fruits, cherries and blueberries. The 2017 is a worthy successor to the exceptional 2015 and 2016 vintages which scored 96 and 97 points respectively while earning the following praise from wine writer Kim Brebach... 'Penfolds would charge $200 for a wine like this'. The 2017, from a slightly cooler vintage, adds savoury notes to the trademark intense black fruits and spice.
