Curtis Family Vineyards Wines
The Curtis family have been making wine in South Australia’s McLaren Vale region since 1973. The family history in winemaking stretches back to Italy, where in 1499 Paolo Curtis was charged by the Cardinal de Medici with looking after the papal lands around Cervaro, which lies to the southeast of Rome. Looking after these lands included the establishment of vineyards and olive groves.
Members of the Curtis family still farm in the area today, while others moved to Australia and began making wine in McLaren Vale in the 1970s. Today, they draw on some serious old vine resources, with 60-year-old Shiraz plantings and hundred-year-old Grenache vines forming the backbone of the wines we stock from them.
Curtis Family Vineyards honour traditional winemaking techniques in many of their wines, and the result is always fantastic. Plus, they’ve got the medals and points to prove it!
