Both grown on the estate and sourced from quality growers, the grapes are crushed and destemmed straight into the press to retain delicacy and aromatics and minimise colour transfer from the skins. The wine’s salmon pink colour is matched by a delicate strawberry aroma along with citrus blossom. The palate offers cherry and strawberry flavours and a creamy texture. Leasingham wines have been around since the 1890s and have been steered by a series of legendary winemakers over the years. It wasn’t until the early 70s that the Bin series kicked off, with a Bin 61 Shiraz and a Bin 56 Cab Malbec. These were both highly prized for their exceptional quality and regular ability to out-perform wines selling at 2-3 times their asking price. A few of us from WD were lucky enough to attend a vertical tasting with Tim Knappstein (one of the aforementioned and legendary Leasingham alumni) a decade or so ago and came away incredibly impressed with the quality and consistency of the wines. We looked at over 20 vintages, and everything we tasted was still showing fruit, the best of them were exceptional. So it’s a little sad that the '21 may be the last vintage of the Bin 61 Shiraz. Lots of good stuff here, black tea, chocolate, coffee grounds, mint, plum, charcuterie, and blackberries. A tightly coiled Cab that needs a little coaxing by way of an hour or 2 in the decanter. While that's happening, turn your thoughts to lamb and what you might be eating in an hour or 2 when the wine is cherry ripe. Funnily enough, we found cherries here, along with blackcurrant, cocoa, tomato leaf and a plushness emerging from an intense baseline once the wine had gulped a little air. You can see the promise on opening, but post decanting, the Trophy and gold medals this wine has won make a great deal of sense. Learn More

A lovely Pinot Grigio, well named, as it takes after the lean racy styles which come out of Italy. Fresh, crunchy Nashi pear, pear tannins, a little pepper and a hint of citrus here. Perfect with seafood, or as an aperitif. Learn More

A riper, darker and more supple expression of Peppertree Shiraz which retains the hallmark spice and subtlety. It was aged in old oak and released at 5 years of age – ready to drink! A magical organic McLaren Vale Shiraz from the highly prized Wits End vineyard. This has a wonderful red/black fruit fragrance, dense yet luscious fruits, violet notes and excellent intensity and length. Florals, orange blossom. honeydew melon,and rose petals which lead into moving citrus and jasmine as the wine opens. Excellent acidity here and a lovely mouthfeel making for a wine which is both strident and charming in equal measure. Will cellar well, revealing a honeyed character as it ages. Learn More

Powerful, cedary and black-fruited. A few years ago this was probably monstrous. Pleasingly, it's settling into itself, and a bit of a decant sees it drinking beautifully. Exceptional concentration of dark fruits here, along with chocolate and spice. Handpicked and basket pressed. Learn More
