- Ca Vegar Bardolino DOC 2023$45.00Its bigger than Pinot, and of course has a different flavour profile, but in the UK plenty of punters who drink Pinot are equally enamoured of Bardolino. 'But it is made from the same grapes as Amarone', we hear you say. It is, and Bardolino is only half an hour from that region, but the wines are altogether brighter and far more delicate than you'll find there. This Bardolino sees about 6 months in oak, followed by some time in tank prior to bottling – red fruits and violet form the nose. It is red fruity, pulpy and fleshy and finishes tight and dry, with excellent length, minerality, plenty of acid and fine tannins. Drink it with rich meaty dishes or oily fish. Definitely a food wine and absolutely worth decanting. Learn More
- Lone Palm Vineyards 'Selection' Shiraz 2023$250.00Less than 200 dozen were produced of this magnificently concentrated and impossibly smooth beast. The best fruit is hand selected from the lowest yielding rows of the winery's best vineyard in Marananga. This was supplemented in '23 by fruit which used to supply the incredible Magpie Estate Malcolm Shiraz. Some whole bunch and 100% whole berries are fermented slowly in open fermenters before basket pressing into French oak. Liquorice, star anise, cassis, plum, dark chocolate, blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrants can all be found here. Fruit intensity and length are profound. An utterly brilliant wine. Learn More
- Lone Palm Vineyards Hillside Shiraz 2023$120.00Another delicious release of Hillside Shiraz from low yielding vineyards in Marananga, old vines from Stonewell, planted to the R6 and 1654 clones. There’s old vine fruit from Greenock, the vines so old that the clonal selection is unknown. Matured in a combination of new French and older American oak, this is a stunning Barossa Shiraz offering black fruits, blue fruits, blackberries, coffee, graphite, chocolate, minerals, liquorice, spice, blueberries, cedar and firm tannins. - Lone Palm Vineyards Old Vine Barossa Shiraz 2023$60.00Another superb Old Vine Shiraz sourced entirely from 3 small Barossa Vineyards planted in the 1950s and 60s. Vineyards are from the highly prized sub-districts of Ebenezer, Vine Vale and Nuriootpa. Old oak is employed here to allow the fruit to shine, and stunning fruit it is. Satsuma plum, blueberry, dark cherry, spice, chocolate, liquorice and more on the go here. Learn More
- Lone Palm Vineyards Old Vine Grenache 2023$60.00Serious, old vines Grenache this, with a degree of intensity you don’t always find in Grenache. As per every vintage released so far, the '23 is bolstered by the inclusion of some powerful, low yielding old vine Shiraz. A red and black fruit perfume abounds. Tannins are plentiful and savoury, the fruits black, flecked with reds and tightly coiled. Best enjoyed after decanting. Learn More
- Riposte 'The Cutlass' Shiraz 2023Special Price $25.00 Regular Price $29.00
A thrillingly aromatic, juicy and textural Adelaide Hills Shiraz, The Cutlass more than earns its 96-point score from Tony Love.
Renowned critic Jeni Port says:
"The Cutlass is well named, moving fast with plenty of dash straight to the point – and that is to promote one terrific cool climate Shiraz."
Tony Love adds:
"Aromatics of summer berry pudding, crushed grape flesh, and dark mint... timber, earth and heavy spice... gossamer tannins. A joyous wine to taste then drink again – its natural purity is all that’s needed."
This is undoubtedly one of the finest Adelaide Hills Shiraz releases on the market right now – cool climate Shiraz at its most expressive and refined.
