Andrew Miller is a Champagne nutter who decided to become a winemaker. After graduating from Roseworthy college, he did a vintage in Champagne with Cote de Blancs producer Guy Jacopin and in spite of no shared language, learned much about the art of winemaking and specifically blending. The Artis wines pay homage to Mr. Jacopin. This exceptional Pinot Gris is both textural, with lively, superb acidity and citrus emerging from the inclusion of 9% Clare Riesling, complexing the pear laden, Adelaide Hills Gris. Superb small batch single vineyard PG from Keeda Zilm. Fruit is sourced entirely from Glen Kelly's vineyard in Sevenhill. Pears, spice, crisp green apple and an underlay of lime zest. A powerful and textural Riesling from the superb 2022 vintage. This is already excellent but will cellar for a decade, probably two. A floral, lime and lemon bouquet leads to a steely, mineral palate replete with even more powerful and inviting citrus. Length and persistence are superb. Huon Hooke rates this well inside the top 10 Clare Rieslings from the vintage and just 1 point adrift from top spot.
