At an average north of $90 retail per bottle, these might not scream 'Friday night Pizza' but at a tick under $30 a bottle in this bundle, maybe we can make a case for it... and at a bottle a week, we've got the next 13 weeks of Friyay evenings gourmet exhalations elevated to someplace very fine indeed.
So, what will you have next Friday?
Pasha's 97 point McLaren Shiraz which had Kim Brebach in raptures, saying 'The integration of fruit and oak is as seamless as I’ve seen in an Aussie red'? Dandelion's Firehawk Shiraz- off their best McLaren Vale vineyard? Sidewood's savoury Adelaide Shiraz which iced a lazy dozen gold medals with 96 points from Halliday? Showblock's incredible Reserve Shiraz? Kilikanoon's Flagship Cabernet? Perhaps, Longview's Trophy winning Cab ... decant this one!
OR, maybe you just want to start with the Lone Palm, the big gun. Imagine Marvin Gaye reinterpreting death metal (when he was alive, obvs), or Chuck Norris taking up Tai Chi. Molten lava given the Gaviscon treatment, Chewbacca reciting 'Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day', you get the idea. It's one of those 'Iron fist in a velvet glove' jobbies - incredibly powerful and densely fruited yet so perfectly put together that it is a joy to drink already.
Just need to choose that pizza now.

Learn More - Ca Vegar Bardolino DOC 2023$45.00Its bigger than Pinot, and of course has a different flavour profile, but in the UK plenty of punters who drink Pinot are equally enamoured of Bardolino. 'But it is made from the same grapes as Amarone', we hear you say. It is, and Bardolino is only half an hour from that region, but the wines are altogether brighter and far more delicate than you'll find there. This Bardolino sees about 6 months in oak, followed by some time in tank prior to bottling – red fruits and violet form the nose. It is red fruity, pulpy and fleshy and finishes tight and dry, with excellent length, minerality, plenty of acid and fine tannins. Drink it with rich meaty dishes or oily fish. Definitely a food wine and absolutely worth decanting. Learn More
- Charming Chardonnay DozenRegular Price $492.00 $240.00We love Chardy here at WD, well, most of us do, the ones with good taste... and if you are like most of us, this might just be the pack for you. There's 4 bottles each of the Solaris Adelaide Hills Chardy, a textural lovely replete with ripe and pendulous stonefruits along with rockmelon, vanilla, crème brûlée and brioche. The Dowie Chard, from an elevated, low yielding and sandy soiled single vineyard in Blewitt Springs is also textural, creamy and packed with flavours. The Katnook shows restrained tropical notes, fresh herbs, grilled nuts and butter. Learn More
- Colli Vicentini Romeo Prosecco DOC$35.00Aromatic and laden with green apple and citrus, sherbet and fruit tingle, this is an excellent prosecco. The palate is textural and (within specs) has good mouthfeel. Consider pairing with a plate of something spicy! Learn More
- Hastwell & Lightfoot Fiano 2022Special Price $25.00 Regular Price $30.00A bright, fresh wine combining the flavours of stone fruit, ripe pear and a touch of honey. Mouthfeel is good, and this wine responds well to decanting. Learn More
- Hastwell & Lightfoot Fiano 2024$30.00Aromas of stone fruit, a hint of vanilla bean, and ripe honeydew melon. A little salinity here too and some grip on the palate. A delightful Fiano that will absolutely improve with cellaring. Learn More
- Leasingham Bin 61 Shiraz 2021Special Price $20.00 Regular Price $25.00Leasingham wines have been around since the 1890s and have been steered by a series of legendary winemakers over the years. It wasn’t until the early 70s that the Bin series kicked off, with a Bin 61 Shiraz and a Bin 56 Cab Malbec. These were both highly prized for their exceptional quality and regular ability to out-perform wines selling at 2-3 times their asking price. A few of us from WD were lucky enough to attend a vertical tasting with Tim Knappstein (one of the aforementioned and legendary Leasingham alumni) a decade or so ago and came away incredibly impressed with the quality and consistency of the wines. We looked at over 20 vintages, and everything we tasted was still showing fruit, the best of them were exceptional. So it’s a little sad that the '21 may be the last vintage of the Bin 61 Shiraz. Lots of good stuff here, black tea, chocolate, coffee grounds, mint, plum, charcuterie, and blackberries. The overall impression is of mid-weight fruit, an even balance between softness, fine tannin and good length. Cracking value for money. Drink now through 2030. Learn More
- Longview Devil's Elbow Cabernet Sauvignon 2022Special Price $30.00 Regular Price $32.00A tightly coiled Cab that needs a little coaxing by way of an hour or 2 in the decanter. While that's happening, turn your thoughts to lamb and what you might be eating in an hour or 2 when the wine is cherry ripe. Funnily enough, we found cherries here, along with blackcurrant, cocoa, tomato leaf and a plushness emerging from an intense baseline once the wine had gulped a little air. You can see the promise on opening, but post decanting, the Trophy and gold medals this wine has won make a great deal of sense. Learn More
- Longview Queenie Pinot Grigio 2024Special Price $25.00 Regular Price $27.00A lovely Pinot Grigio, well named, as it takes after the lean racy styles which come out of Italy. Fresh, crunchy Nashi pear, pear tannins, a little pepper and a hint of citrus here. Perfect with seafood, or as an aperitif. Learn More
