It might hail from the Adelaide Hills, but McLaren Vale is just down the driveway—and it shows. The Manser family draws on both regions to craft reds packed with powerful black fruits, nuance, and spice.
Made from: Shiraz grown right on the boundary between Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.
Aromas & Flavours: Blueberries, black fruits, spice, a touch of eucalypt, and creamy vanilla.
Drink it if you like: Pepperjack Shiraz
What to eat: This is a red that’s comfortable alongside a premium cut of beef, but versatile enough to crack open anytime.
Backstory: The vineyard was once owned by Tim James—former Hardys senior winemaker, Wirra Wirra MD, wine show judge and all-round industry legend. The Mansers have since poured in time, money, and care to bring it to its full potential.
Learn More - Manser 'One Mad Moment' McLaren Vale Shiraz Grenache 2022Special Price $30.00 Regular Price $35.00The Grenache (from 95 year old bush vines) was fermented on skins for 10 days after harvest with a small element of whole bunch. The shiraz is from Blewitt Springs and fermented on skins for 8 days then pressings were added back in. Both wines were then transferred to 8 and 9 year old barrels for the wines to develop without the intrusion of oak flavour.
This is a magnificent blend of robust, full bodied shiraz with spice and chocolate offset by the juicy red and blue fruits of old vine grenache. A wonderful wine to enjoy now but the structure suggests it has 10-15 years of improvement ahead of it. Learn More - Showblock Cellar Reserve Home Block Shiraz 2020Special Price $80.00 Regular Price $85.00Powerful, cedary and black-fruited. A few years ago this was probably monstrous. Just the fourth release of Yaldara Grand, and arguably the best so far, with its incredible concentration of fruit and use of exceptional oak. A big wine and a complex expression of the Barossa. Milk and dark chocolate, aniseed, blue fruits, tobacco leaf, plus plenty of cedary oak and tannin. Incredible.
