Made from: Shiraz grown right on the boundary between Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.

Aromas & Flavours: Blueberries, black fruits, spice, a touch of eucalypt, and creamy vanilla.

What to eat: This is a red that’s comfortable alongside a premium cut of beef, but versatile enough to crack open anytime.

Backstory: The vineyard was once owned by Tim James—former Hardys senior winemaker, Wirra Wirra MD, wine show judge and all-round industry legend. The Mansers have since poured in time, money, and care to bring it to its full potential.

The Grenache (from 95 year old bush vines) was fermented on skins for 10 days after harvest with a small element of whole bunch. The shiraz is from Blewitt Springs and fermented on skins for 8 days then pressings were added back in. Both wines were then transferred to 8 and 9 year old barrels for the wines to develop without the intrusion of oak flavour.

This is a magnificent blend of robust, full bodied shiraz with spice and chocolate offset by the juicy red and blue fruits of old vine grenache. A wonderful wine to enjoy now but the structure suggests it has 10-15 years of improvement ahead of it.

The nose shows a variety of red and blue fruits of raspberry and blueberry, apparent as soon as you open the bottle, the palate is brooding and complex with layers of juicy fruits and a dry mouthfeel underpinned by powdery tannins… one for the cellar, or a brief decant will open this beauty up for maximum enjoyment.
