Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

First up, Zonte’s Footstep Chocolate Factory Shiraz with a whopping 9 Gold Medals and 94 Halliday points - it’s got big black and blue berries with fine milk chocolate and Christmas spices. Zonte’s Lake Doctor is also worthy of inclusion with its 4 Gold Medals - think plums, chocolate and fine tannins. Zonte’s final offering is their Peacock’s Fan 2014 Grenache with 3 Gold Medals - a medium bodied Grenache with red fruits, herb and spice, not dissimilar to the 2015 Grenache from Purple Hands which stands alongside it in this lot and provides a nice opportunity to sample McLaren Vale vs Barossa Grenache. The Blue Pyrenees ‘Richardson’ Cabernet holds its own here, boasting the highest Halliday score in this bunch, it’s slightly sweet yet restrained with notes of black and blue berries, toffee apple, mint, cedar and vanilla. 919 Vineyards from SA’s Riverland return with their ever faithful Tempranillo which is deep in colour, rich in aroma and intensely rewarding in flavour, with dark chocolate and sour cherries. Leconfield’s 2015 McLaren Vale Shiraz (94pts James Halliday) also features with its varietal dark fruit, as does Tim Adam’s Protégé from the Clare Valley, both outstanding wines, ideal for a comparison between regions. Curtis Family Vineyards have their Cavaliere and Limited Series Shiraz up for grabs as well, with plenty of spice and tannin. We’ve also included the Richard Hamilton Centurion Shiraz adorned with 5 Gold Stars from Rob Geddes. Finally, ‘The Yeoman’, by Geoff Hardy’s Pertaringa Vineyard, which is another absolute standout in this lineup. It’s made only from the best fruit taken from exceptional years - incredibly full-bodied, squid-ink black in colour with a supreme balance between fruit, acidity and tannin... a drinking experience of its own accord. Give the wine a few hours breathing time to enjoy now or cellar with ease to 2030, 40 or 50. Good luck picking a favourite in this lot!
