Women may have been underrepresented in the wine industry for too long, but in recent years the women of the wine industry have been making a splash with outstanding, award-winning wines.
Like all of the wines we select here at winedirect.com.au, these wines - all created by female winemakers - have been hand-selected by our tasting panel for their exceptional quality. Pick 'n' mix a dozen from our selection and taste for yourself the talent, passion and knowledge that women have been bringing to the table.
By no means an extensive list (there are plenty of women in wine aside from winemakers), our current list of wines from female winemakers include those by Elena Brooks (of Dandelion Vineyards and Heirloom Vineyards - you can read our blog post about Elena here), Corrina Wright (Oliver's Taranga), Sarah Crowe (Yarra Yering), Keeda Zilm (Vickery Wines), Renae Hirsch (Farmer's Leap and Colab and Bloom), and Liz Silkman (First Creek).
Check out these exceptional wines, including gold medal winners, trophy takers, a top-end Coonawarra Cab, a stunner of a Riesling, and what might just be McLaren Vale's best Shiraz. But don't take our word for it... order now and see for yourself!

McLaren Vale is where South Australian wine was born, and it has a rich and respected history of producing world-class Grenache, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. But it’s also one of Australia’s most exciting regions, with innovation, sustainability and diversity being driven by the producers and winemakers of McLaren Vale. Many Mediterranean varietals, ideal for McLaren Vale’s climate, have been planted in recent years. So alongside the big three just mentioned, expect to find exceptional Fiano, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, Mataro (Mourvèdre) and more from this region, too.
Home to over 110 wineries, the McLaren Vale region produces a variety of wines, from traditional to experimental, but with a thread of quality and distinctive terroir underpinning them all.
