Jason Schwarz has wine in his DNA, a fifth generation Barossan, he was raised on his parent's vineyard. Firstly, he studied wine marketing, before realising that winemaking was his true calling. Jason completed vintages in Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhone, Stellenbosch and the Napa Valley before, returning to the Barossa to work in a number of different wineries.
Jason has no formal winemaking training, yet has a rare affinity for growing and sourcing spectacular fruit from vines up to 130 years old, which he picks at the optimum ripeness level to allow the fruit to shine once bottled. Having minimal interest in over ripe, over oaked or ponderous wines, he was one of the very first Barossa producers to pick early. Little surprise his winery is rated 5 red stars by Halliday and he is one of the select few producers who are part of the Artisans of the Barossa. He makes bloody good wines.
