White You Are

Price as configured: $150.00

While we may not crank up the BBQ as much as we do in summer, we still love whites to pair with dishes like curries, laksa - practically anything spicy, so we assembled some we’re liking at the moment. Clare Valley Riesling from Erin Eyes, Chardonnay from Thorn Clarke and The Hidden Sea, Sauv Blanc also from The Hidden Sea and a cheeky, cheerful bottle of Bird in Hand’s Sparkling Pinot Noir.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Pop these in the fridge and you’ll surprise yourself how often they appear in your glass. Bird in Hand Sparkling flies out the door nearly every day of the week here. Why? It’s good. Adelaide Hills ripe strawberry fruit paired with subtle forest greenery make this one excellent sparkling. Riesling is the perfect combination for Asian cuisine and this new vintage from Erin Eyes in the Clare Valley is divine. Bags of fresh lime/lemon with floral and minerals. Crisp and complex, but still fruit focussed. Compare a couple of Chardys with Thorn Clarke Cool Woods and The Hidden Sea. From Cool Woods, expect stone fruits and minerality. This Hidden Sea shows more stone fruits, with a lovely creaminess from lees stirring and enough citrus acidity to cut through the end of the palate. Also from Hidden Sea, a Sauvignon Blanc offering snow pea, cut grass and an explosion of passionfruit. On the palate you’ll find crème brûlée and zesty citrus too - this is seriously tasty stuff. No reds? White You Are. Trust us, if the Europeans can drink delicious whites all year ‘round, so can we!
