Adelaide Hills, SA Pinot Gris & Grigio Wines

Pinot Gris and Grigio have given Sauvignon Blanc a run for its money in terms of popularity in recent times. It can tend to be a little more austere, complex and serious but is still zesty and fun. When we try a new Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio wine on the tasting bench, we’re looking for that lovely "peary" characteristic that is synonymous with Pinot Gris wine or Grigio but, almost more importantly, we’re looking at the acid structure to make sure that the wine doesn’t collapse under its own peary goodness... this lot fit the bill... A lovely Pinot Grigio, well named, as it takes after the lean racy styles which come out of Italy. Fresh, crunchy Nashi pear, pear tannins, a little pepper and a hint of citrus here. Perfect with seafood, or as an aperitif. Learn More
  2. Purple Hands 'Colours of the South' Pinot Gris 2024
Special Price $26.00 Regular Price $30.00
A little riper than most PGs, this definitely a nod towards the style of Alsace. Gorgeous ripe pears and musk on the nose and palate which is already creamily textural. This mid-palate mouthfeel will continue to develop with time as the wine grows into itself. Only free run juice from whole bunch pressings were used and a small percentage of the wine spent time in old French oak. The result is a mixture of freshness and texture. This is a wonderful Pinot Gris Learn More
  3. Riposte 'The Stiletto' Pinot Gris 2024
    $24.00
A truly excellent and complex Pinot Gris, packed with fresh nashi pears and florals, a hint of struck match, and a streak of minerality. The texture here is superb, the length excellent. Just a few months of lees stirring in 25% new French oak, and juice oxidization prior to ferment give this superb weight and texture. Perhaps the best PG the Knapsteins have produced. Learn More
