Voir Rouge

Voir Rouge: Fr. ‘To see red.’ Split Enz had a hit with a similar name. We opted for the French title because like most things French, they’re just a little bit classy. Three superb Shiraz and a Shiraz blend that we’d all gladly hang our berets on.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

After years of begging, Matt allowed Adam to ring Neil Jericho and see if he wanted to join the team. He said yes (naturally) and his Single Vineyard Shiraz from McLaren Vale is a stunner. Black, beautiful with plum and charred oak and dustings of chocolate. Plop this one through the bubbler to enjoy now or pop it away for a good ten years. The latest vintage of the Centurion Shiraz from Richard Hamilton is excellent. Fruit purity, flavour, texture and richness all come to mind. With previous Halliday scores averaging 96-97, we’ll be excited to see what this new batch brings. This will cellar for 30 years, such is its power. Monterra Barossa Shiraz made by Mike Farmilo (2-time Jimmy Watson winner, ex-Grange winemaker) is divine. It’s plush, with red and blue fruits, perfume and spice in a juicy medium body. This is geared to drink now, so don’t be shy. The Hidden Sea’s Cabernet Shiraz blend is a cracker that’s often open on our tasting bench just because we like it. Complex spice, red fruits and lifted herbal notes coming through courtesy of the Cab. It’s juicy and delicious and has a couple of gold medals already. Salut!
