$250 Platinum Baker's Dozen

Big Brand Baker’s Dozen - over $1,000 worth of premium Shiraz for less than $20/bottle including $250 Old Vines Barossa Bonus

Once in a while we’re able to line up all the planets to deliver amazing quality and value in one bundle.

First up is David Powell's (ex Torbreck) single vineyard Barossa block buster, Neldner Road 'The Silesian' Shiraz, an opulent and classy expression of Barossa Shiraz that offers enjoyment now after an half hour stint in the decanter or 15+ years improvement in the cellar. This is every bit the $150 rrp wine...

With the pack already paid for here's 2 bottles each of;

2021 Curtis Small Batch McLaren Vale Shiraz - a black, plush full-bodied Shiraz made from 80 year old vines.

2016 Mitchell Peppertree Shiraz - hitting its perfect drinking now, primary and secondary flavours in harmony.

2022 Manser Dad's Cut Adelaide HIlls Shiraz - not your ordinary 'Hills Shiraz; pepper and spice balanced by uncommon richness.

2024 Jacobs Creek Jacob's Cellar Pinot Noir - a medium-bodied, easy drinking Pinot fragrant with and tasting of black cherry, strawberry and a little spice. Oak is nicely integrated, tannins are soft and the balance is bang on.

2019 Murray St Barossa Shiraz Cabernet - this picked up 96 points at the Barossa Wine Show - second, by just 1 point to the Wolf Blass 'The Master' which retails for $350 a bottle, a welcome addition to the re-write of this pack.

And to well and truly sign off on the value proposition a thirteenth bottle of 2023 Yaldara Grand Cuvée Barossa Shiraz, valued at $250 per bottle! Just the fifth release of Yaldara Grand, and arguably the one which has struck a balance between power and elegance most deftly.

$1,056 worth of premium red for less than $20/bottle!

Just the fifth release of Yaldara Grand, and arguably the one which has struck a balance between power and elegance most deftly. Milk and dark chocolate, aniseed, black and blue fruits, tobacco leaf, plus plenty of cedary oak and tannin. Magical.

Opulent and sense-flooding. Aromas of gunsmoke, cedar, dark chocolate, coffee, meat stock and spice weave through rich waves of blueberry, black pepper and liquorice. It’s brooding, heady and powerful—Barossa at full throttle.

94pts Sam Kim, 91pts James Halliday

A complex beast this, bolstered with 30% new French oak. Blackberries, black cherry, plum, spice and dark chocolate here, plus a note of tobacco. Plenty of fine tannins to finish. Drink any time over the next decade.

The best Peppertree we've seen to date - with bold blue and black fruits, cherries, liquorice, white pepper, seamless integration of acid and oak, and a Rhôney, spiced, savoury thing happening too. A joy to drink.

It might hail from the Adelaide Hills, but McLaren Vale is just down the driveway—and it shows. The Manser family draws on both regions to craft reds packed with powerful black fruits, nuance, and spice.

Backstory: The vineyard was once owned by Tim James—former Hardys senior winemaker, Wirra Wirra MD, wine show judge and all-round industry legend. The Mansers have since poured in time, money, and care to bring it to its full potential.

A black, plush, and full-bodied Shiraz made from 80-year-old vines. Exceptional fruit intensity here, and weight of black fruits on the palate. Opulence is balanced by judicious acidity and there’re plenty of tannins driving through to an epic conclusion. Decant if you are going to enjoy now, otherwise cellar!

This is a medium-bodied, easy drinking Pinot fragrant with and tasting of black cherry, strawberry and a little spice. Oak is nicely integrated, tannins are soft and the balance is bang on. Get into it with duck, salmon, or whatever you like really.
