Dandelion 'Firehawk Farm' McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017 - Stunningly intense McLaren Vale Shiraz with perfect integration of fruit, oak and acid. Closed on opening, this morphs into an absolute stunner as it breathes and is even better a day after opening. Our tasting panel gave it 94-95 when first opened. Coming back to it 24 hours later we were at 97s and 98s... incredibly rare. There is monumental intensity of fruit in this savoury/sweet complex brute bedecked with graphite, chocolate, coffee, earthiness and firm tannins.
Two Sisters Wine Co. Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015 - Wine writer Kim Brebach gave this 96++ and said Penfolds would charge $200 for a wine like this... 'It’s big, bold and beautiful, and I mean every word of that. The generous size was obvious from the first sip... it took a couple of days to open sesame, then it served up the deepest darkest fruits... pepper and assorted spices, vanilla from the oak, and more. Drink it with Chateaubriand or standing rib roast.'
Heirloom Vineyards Anevo Fortress Grenache Touriga Tempranillo 2018 - Selected from Heirloom’s best McLaren Vale vineyards. We saw musk, plum skin, spice, cherries, earthiness, Earl Grey tea, blackberry and black pepper. A sense enveloping and incredibly beguiling wine finished with a dusting of fine powdery tannins. Magical.
Heirloom Vineyards Alcala Grenache 2019 - Again, from Heirloom's best McLaren Vale vineyards. There's blackberries, spice, plums, cherry and earthiness. A delicious, complete, complex yet playful Grenache and clearly one of Australia’s best.
Manser 'Block 4' Shiraz 2018 - This release is powerful and packs a punch. There’s spicy black and blue fruits on the nose with a curious hint of mintiness to boot. The palate is full bodied supported by a backbone of fine, powdery tannins with a long, rich finish. Decant for an hour or two or cellar for up to 10-15 years.

Dandelion Lioness of McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017 - This is a complex beast, basket pressed into a mix of old French and American oak where it lives for 8 months. It offers an array of bright black and blue fruits, meaty braising liquid and plums, finishing with plenty of fine tannins, some cedary goodness and an enlivening prickle of acidity.
Oliver's Taranga Shiraz 2017 - This vintage displays a refined and delicious fruit profile. Hints of vanilla oak, dark jam and black berries woven together in delicate milk chocolate and peppermint. The palate shows silky fruit from the start with developing sour cherry and mulberry. It has good acid and will cellar away nicely if you so desire.

Polished black with exceptional intensity of black and blue fruits, this is stunning now and will just keep getting better over the next 10 years. George’s Wines 'The Exile' Shiraz 2015 - This is just the third reserve release from George’s who have consistently produced superb wines from the famed Armagh sub district of the Clare Valley. The quality and intensity here are undeniable, as black fruits, cedar and spice mingle almost perfectly. This is excellent now but we recommend decanting. Otherwise you could cellar for up to 20 years.
