The Prime Pinot Sixer v2.0

Six cracking Pinots the Adelaide Hills, the Fleurieu, and the epicenter of world class Pinot Noir, Burgundy. From Burgundy we have Domaine Masse's perfectly cellared 2018 from Côte Chalonnaise, a sub region of Burgundy widely considered to provide exceptional value for money. This is an excellent example. Next up, Heirloom's $80 a bottle, Halliday 95-pointed flagship. This offers a beguiling perfume, intense fruit and a wonderfully long finish. See also Heirloom's Velvet Fog, a sublimely structured stunner with expressive aromatics and a palate laden with strawberries and spice. On to the Boho Queen Bee Reserve, a powerful and flavoursome Pinot which will reward further cellaring. Finally, from industry legends, the Knappsteins, their Dagger and Sabre Pinots. Both excellent, with the Dagger offering seductive drinking over the new few years, the Sabre being aromatic, succulent and packed with powerful fruit. Now that's a nice Pinot!

Expressive, grounded, powerful, playful. This is an exceptional Pinot Noir sourced from a single vineyard in Charleston. Red and purple aromatics lead to a powerful yet aquiline palate offering roses, cherries, violets, spice, must and toastiness. The palate is long and the tannin finish fine. The acidity elevates the fruit. Exceptional.
    Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
    95pts Sam Kim
An intriguing pinot produced from a 35yo Fleurieu peninsula vineyard which is both cool climate and maritime influenced. This resulting Pinot, a reserve selection off their best vines, offers structure and power. It’s worth decanting and will absolutely continue to improve with cellaring. Superb structure and depth of flavour here.
    Burgundy, France
A tiny Burgundian Estate producing miniscule quantities of delectable Pinot Noir. This one offers red fruits, the svelte swirliness you’d expect of Burgundy, along with spice, plenty of acid and whisper fine tannins.
    Adelaide Hills, SA
A very expressive nose offering a purple Pinot perfume and pristine red fruit aromatics along with spice. The palate is big by Pinot standards, laden with strawberries, savories, spice, salinity and beetroot. Sensational value.

Typically fresh and zesty. this edition of the Dagger is brimful of with fresh red and forest fruits. A modern Pinot in style and unashamedly light to med bodied and made to enjoy young. That said, there's good fruit in this Pinot, which is of a genuinely high quality.

94pts Ken Gargett, 94pts Tony Love
The best Sabre we have seen to date. This multi clone blend (MV6, 1154, 115, D4V2, D5V12, and 18GM) is aromatic, succulent and drying, with cherries and savoury notes. The wine is just mid weight and offers delightfully ethereal aromatics and appropriate fruit weight on the palate. 25% French oak sees some lovely charry notes sliding into fine tannins on the finish.
