The Hidden Sea Sauvignon Blanc 2016 – A mature savvy with all the rough edges knocked off, but in no danger of falling over. It’s got flavour and body and some hints of cut grass and peas and passionfruit, all happy together. Impressive, kind of sneaks up on you as you realise that the bottle is less than half full. 93 points. Buy.
I gave this wine 93 points when I first tasted it 3-4 months ago. I’ll have to raise my score to 94, because this savvy has so much going for it. Maybe the wine is still getting better? Seriously, the balance between fruit and savoury flavours is perfect, and despite its age, there’s plenty of energy left in the tank. It’s a joy to drink, and the price makes it the bargain of the year. 94 points.
