‘They see us drinking such great whites’... would have been the lyrics had the Postal Service known about this month’s $150 white pack. Stick these bottles under the stairs ready for those beaming Spring days; complete with Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, esteemed Clare Valley Riesling, Tomich’s Q96 Chardonnay (also with 96 points!), Chalk Hill’s Gold Medal and Trophy winning Vermentino and Sidewood’s Mappinga ‘Fume’ quad Gold Savvy Blanc, which is so textural it’s nearly a Chardonnay.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Describe Australia’s climate to anyone and you invariably end with ‘warm and hot’... so why not let us bundle together some superb whites for you to throw in the fridge. Adelaide Hills Sauvy Bs are well known for their zesty citrus and freshly cut grass aromas, compare the Bird in Hand with Sidewood Estate’s super textural ‘Fume’ to see two polar opposite expressions. Cool Woods Savvy Blanc from Thorn Clarke is also great for those seafood BBQs. Our feature Riesling is the Silver Medal winning Big Fine Girl from Jeanneret in the Clare Valley. This 2015 vintage is bigger than your average, packed with bright fruit and orange blossom aromas, stitched into delicious acid and minerality. Unlike older style ‘big and buttery’ Chardonnays, Tomich’s Q96 from their Woodside vineyard shows hazelnut, nectarine and a bit of butterscotch. It’s got a wonderful creamy texture pulled together with rich fruit acidity – this 2014 vintage is complex and classy. For your afternoon cheese platter, Chalk Hill’s Vermentino will play rather nicely, etched with green olives and Mediterranean seaspray. Total retail is just over $350, you pay only $150. It’s a no-brainer.
