Shiraz Lovers Reverie

Three different and exceptional Shiraz; Lienert Sieben Klon – made from 7 separate clones by growers who used to supply Penfolds St Henri - Barossa grunt meets ethereal fragrance; Martin’s Limited – a super premium, blue-fruited McLaren Vale beauty; and Manser Block 4 - seriously intense Adelaide Hills Shiraz off the vineyard formerly owned by industry legend Tim James and that used to feed brands such as Eileen Hardy and Starvedog Lane.

    Shiraz Lovers Reverie

Three exceptional and quite different Shiraz here. First up, midweight, fruit intense 97 point McLaren Shiraz off old vines. Great now and will cellar for 10+ years. Next up, Manser Block 4 Shiraz, a leading contender for best from the Adelaide Hills. This has a gold medal, 96 points from Sam Kim, 95 points from Kim Brebach and 94 points from Halliday. It offers spicy black and blue fruits on the nose with a curious hint of mintiness to boot. The palate is full-bodied, supported by a backbone of fine, powdery tannins and has a long, rich finish. Finally, the Lienert Sieben Klon is floral and beguiling on the nose, densely fruited on the palate, long, complex and bloody awesome. For this very special wine, each clone was harvested and fermented separately with the harvest date chosen to allow each clone to express itself perfectly. Ie, the EVOS12 (Eden Valley clone) was harvested earlier than the others to allow for a beautiful perfume and liveliness in the final wine. Fermentation is done in tiny open-top fermenters which are hand plunged up to four times a day. Certain clones are fermented cooler to better express delicate aromatics whilst some are plunged and pumped over to achieve a more structural element. The trick is finding the right balance. Anyways, we love these wines and encourage you to give them a rip.
