Often as Aussies we get asked about our national food. We tend to stick to three magical letters - B.B.Q. On that note, we’ve bundled up a dozen stunners including a couple of savoury numbers that will just go bonza with some bangers on the barbie. Shiraz from Martins Vineyard, Grenache from Lost Buoy, a suave Italian blend from Zonte’s, a couple of Sauvy Blancs from The Hidden Sea and K1 and why not start the affair with a trophy winning bottle of bubbles from Blue Pyrenees... some cracking selections for our scorchin’ ‘Strayan summer.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

We know you’ll love this one. A few reds made for food matching (BBQ is ideal...), a couple of Sauvy Blancs and some fizz. If you don’t mind us saying, that’s got a bloody great ring to it, even if we are still half-full from Christmas! 97 point Shiraz from Martins Vineyard is chock full of black and blue fruits, but in a super pleasant lighter style. You won’t stand a spoon up in it, but you will be spooning out the last few drops, such is its class. The WD staff have been loving the Lost Buoy Forgotten Ida Grenache. Bright red fruits, confection and a nice touch of tannin make this a BBQ drinking dream. A recent Italian inspired number from Zonte’s has also got us talking... a blend of Sangiovese, Barbera and Lagrein, this is a delicious savoury drop, but don’t worry it doesn’t skimp on the red berry fruit flavours. Sauvignon Blanc from K1 Winery is Trophy winning (and Shaw and Smith beating) Adelaide Hills wondrousness. It’s absolutely refreshing with green apple, cut grass and tropical notes. From The Hidden Sea, something more Mediterranean with some green snow pea textures thrown into the mix. To top this one off, Blue Pyrenees Midnight Cuvée is proper, trophy winning Méthode Traditionelle bubbles. The grapes are picked at night so as to preserve the fruit flavours and acidity required. Baked apples, a bit of citrus and stone fruit can all be found here. Chill the whites, marinade some meats and get ready for the rolling of the good times once this baby arrives on your doorstep this summer... Save a massive 70+% with this dozen!
