Sans + Pareil Estate 100 million % Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2020

$20.00
An enticing aroma of swirling lemons and limes leads to a fresh and crisp palate also offering citrus and a hint of lemongrass. Texture and balance are good. A mouthwatering and easy drinking beast this.

Sans Pareil (which roughly translates from the French as unequalled), have been growing quality fruit in the Riverina for several generations, ever since they decades from Italy in the 1950’s. In just the last few years they have started making wine including a Black label range at $35 a bottle, and entry level range prices in the low teens, and the 100 million % range, priced at $20 a bottle. This range offers freshness along with full, ripe flavours. Aaron Silvestrin, one half of the winemaking team finished his viticultural degree and spent a fair bit of time travelling the world to get a handle on ‘the modern palate’ and you can see that learning and sensibility in these wines. These are very well made, have good fruit and taste bloody good.

In Australia

Sémillon is widely grown in Australia, particularly in the Hunter Valley north of Sydney, where for a long time it was known as "Hunter River Riesling". Four styles of Sémillon-based wines made there: a commercial style, often blended with Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc; a sweet style, after that of Sauternes; a complex, minerally, early picked style which has great longevity; and an equally high quality, dry style, which can be released soon after vintage, as a vat or bottle aged example. (Hunter Valley Semillon is never matured in oak.) The latter two
