Richard Hamilton Little Road Shiraz 2019

$22.00
This is the best Hamilton Little Road we have seen to date, including the one which won the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge. The 2019 has just pulled down a staggering 97 points at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and offers dark fruits, spice, vanilla, aniseed, cedar and fine, chalky tannins. Looks quite a lot like its older brother, the Centurion Shiraz, which retails for $80 per bottle.

The Hamilton family have a rich winemaking heritage dating back to 1837. In addition to owning Richard Hamilton Wines, they also founded and own Leconfield wines in the Coonawarra. The first Richard Hamilton was originally a businessman in the UK with a penchant for smuggling Bordeaux into the UK. In 1837 he fled for Australia with customs hot on his heels and by 1841 produced South Australia’s first commercial wine. Generations of expansion and commercial success followed, and the brand kept moving south from Adelaide, eventually settling in the McLaren Vale. These days, drawing on a heap of high quality vineyards (many of which are old vine) Richard Hamilton produces a range of wines which are both superb in quality and excellent value for money.

Aroma characters can range from violets to berries (usually dark as opposed to red), chocolate, espresso and black pepper. No one aroma can be called "typical" though blackberry and pepper are often noticed. With time in the bottle these "primary" notes are moderated and then supplemente ... Read Full Article

A good burger doesn’t simply just require beer – especially one of this caliber!! For me, I am ALL about a good shiraz with my burger. Something bold, beautiful, and powerful (but not to the point where I can only drink 1/2 the bottle).

With time in the bottle these "primary" notes are moderated and then supplemented with earthy or savory "tertiary" notes such as leather and truffle.

"Secondary" flavor and aroma notes are those associated with several things, generally winemakers' practices (such as oak barrel and yeast regimes).
