Special Price $28.00 Regular Price $30.00
A new release from Richard Hamilton Wines who are all guns blazing for Grenache, having three wines now which are 100% Grenache or Grenache dominant. This one is young and lovely, with notes of tarragon, fennel and a brooding ferrous-ness which, as it breathes and opens, reveals plenty of delicious cherries. It is light to midweight with plenty of acidity. Lip smacking drinking over the next 5 years.

Richard Hamilton and indeed Leconfield wines (same owner and winemaker) have steadily improved in quality every year from 2004. In addition to the wines they regularly produce from their McLaren Vale and Coonawarra vineyards, 2014 saw the addition of a Clare Riesling and Adelaide Hills Savvy Blanc.

Located in McLaren Vale, the Leconfield vineyards that produce Richard Hamilton fruit are well established, with some of the oldest vines in the region.

McLaren Vale reds reflect this, showing deep complexity and power along with the ability to cellar for decades. While Shiraz grabs the most attention, chocolate-rich Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnays and Viogniers are worth sampling. The climate is influenced by ocean breezes coming in from the Gulf of St. Vincent to the west and the altitude of the Sellicks Hill ... Read Full Article

The humble varietal Garnacha or Grenache as we know it.

Soil type is varied, ranging from red-brown loam and sand to dark clay and the often-mentioned terra rosa. A misspell of the Italian phrase "terra rossa" (meaning "red soil"), this ruddy-red stuff is left behind when limestone breaks down, and any viticulturist will tell you it's great stuff to grow vines in due
