Wines this good shouldn’t be sold for $14 a bottle, it’s criminal! Still, that is exactly what we are doing, so let's just keep it between us. Penley Estate and Hesketh from Coonawarra, with Artan just down the road on the Limestone Coast. Chain of Ponds rounds it out with a Reserve Cab Shiraz from the Hills.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

No need to go on a crime spree, we are openly offering these wines up for $14 a bottle in this mixed dozen. The Artan Cabernet is a really good value BBQ Cab that you don’t need to throw in the cellar, you can rip and sip right now. Hesketh's Cab is an exemplary Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Tobacco leaf, cassis and blue fruit aplenty with fine grained tannins. Throw it in the cellar for a decade if you please, or drink it now with a decent decant - bloody lovely. We have admired Penley Estate from afar for a while and we finally have some back in stock! The Penley Estate ‘Hyland’ Shiraz is sourced from a low yielding vineyard in the Coonawarra. The red and blue fruit is forward on the palate and has plenty of spice and cedary oak from a good hit of French oaky goodness. Chain of Ponds release this particular Cabernet Shiraz from the finest fruit of the vintage. It is seriously smooth kit! Plum, blackberry and spice rock out on fine tannins and a soft finish. It is a superb drink already which will continue to improve as is ages.
