Purple Hands Wines Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2023
Special Price $30.00 Regular Price $40.00
The first GSM released by Purple Hands with previous editions having led with Mataro. From our perspective, also the best Grenache blend they have released to date and one of their very best wines overall. Fantastic fragrance here, along with spice, redcurrant, plum, chocolate, cedar and more. Has a tensile aspect which gives this life and lift in a fashion which very few wines can achieve. Exceptional length and a total joy to drink.

Doing vintage, you can’t help but have permanently purple hands. The red colouring and tannins seep into your pores and as your hands crack and glaze, become a temporary and changing tattoo, a momento of working your hands in wine. The two purple hands are Craig Stansborough, chief winemaker for Grant Burge, and Mark Slade. They have a small patch of Shiraz near Williamstown, a cooler part of the Barossa. They buy in Grenache and Mataro. They source Cabernet, Grenache and Shiraz from a tiny vineyard planted in the 1800’s. Quality of the wines is utterly exceptional, made with purple hands and guaranteed to stain your tongue black. James Halliday rated Purple Hands Wines as one of the 10 best new 5 star wineries in his 2013 guide.
