The Grenache (from 95 year old bush vines) was fermented on skins for 10 days after harvest with a small element of whole bunch. The Shiraz is from Blewitt Springs and fermented on skins for 8 days then pressings were added back in. Both wines were then transferred to 8 and 9 year old barrels for the wines to develop without the intrusion of oak flavour.
This is a magnificent blend of robust, full bodied Shiraz with spice and chocolate offset by the juicy red and blue fruits of old vine Grenache. A wonderful wine to enjoy now but the structure suggests it has 10-15 years of improvement ahead of it.

One Mad Moment is a labour of love born out of an unexpected surplus of Shiraz in 2013. Phil Manser, owner and vigneron of Manser Wines, seized on the opportunity to take this surplus and turn it into wine. Four years on and this monster was added to an already impressive stable of flavoursome reds debuting with 91/100 from Wine Showcase Magazine. Phil’s motto is, ‘sometimes you need to leap before you look’ and if you make the leap we suggest this lovely Shiraz Grenache is worth the effort.
This week we sipped on not one, not two but three bottles of Mr Riggs Montepulciano wine. Mr Riggs is a James Halliday 5 star rated winery which is a pretty amazing achievement in itself. You know when you crack open any wine from these guys we are talking about a glass of seriously good wine and this one didn't disappoint either!
I'm gonna ruffle a few feathers here with this one and go MERLOT!!! Mer-what? I know, I know, merlot hasn't got the best of reputations these days but honest to god there are some crackers out there! Often massed produced and definitely overdone in California at least it has grown out of popularity somewhat. WELL, prepare to have your mind changed in a matter of mls!!
