Dune wines are made from the Desert Sands vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale which is Organic in conversion. The vineyard is located 15 kms inland and features deep, free draining sandy soils over yellow clay. The vineyard is not fertilised and instead receives both organic compost and mulch to improve soil structure and add organic matter to the soils. Crop levels are small, resulting in more concentrated wines. Native grasses are encouraged to grow within the vine row and kangaroos and other wild life are a common sight.
