Domaine Des Garriguettes Fleur Des Lune Côtes du Rhône Gadagne AOP GSM 2023
Red fruited, black fruited, aromatic, juicy, rich, with satsuma plum fleshiness and juice. Cloves, smoked meat, cinnamon and spice. Powerful! Opens superbly with decanting and definitely worth having with food. This is an organic and biodynamic wine. There is a little CO2 trapped in the wine as a preservative, so give it a vigorous decant before drinking.
Domaine Des Garriguettes is one of just a handful of high quality producers in the tiny Gadagne region, which has AOP status. The sub-region of the Côtes du Rhône is considered to be very high-quality, with its own specific AOC designation "Côtes du Rhône Villages Gadagne," Like the Châteauneuf du Pape, it is quite close to Avignon and sports remarkably similar soils, also bedecked with large round pebbles. Andrew Jefford of Decanter Magazine and the highly prized ‘The World of Fine Wine’ publication noted the ‘striking similarity’ between the vineyard types. He feels that the region produces wines of powerful personality, with force and intensity, and powerfully spicy notes you won’t find often amongst other wines from the Côtes du Rhône. He doesn’t suggest that the wines yet match the top Chat du Pape wines and range in price from $250 to about $2,500 hundred dollar a bottle but can see the potential!
This is our go to dinner in my home. If you haven’t had beef cheeks then you are missing out! Granted this recipe takes a little time to make but the beauty of it is it freezes AWESOMELY.
