Read all about it red fans! Curtis Cavaliere 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon compliments the same vintage from Finniss River, both showing spice, plenty of blue and red fruits and tannins to age. Chalk Hill’s 95 Halliday point Shiraz is vibrant and glossy with plush jammy fruits and vanilla spice. Hesketh’s Shiraz is quite the Protagonist, with a berry-centric nose and deep dark palate. Hartley Family Wines 2009 Shiraz offers chewy ripe black fruits, French oak and fine tannins. Finally, Pertaringa’s ‘Undercover’ Shiraz has so much bling it shines gold. It’s floral, and well spiced with hints of plum and blackberry. The finish is long and will go perfectly with a hearty dish.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Prepare for a cracking display of reds ready for revealing... Chalk Hill deliver a McLaren Vale Shiraz that is a glossy and vibrant purple to the eye, showing mild vanilla spice on the nose. The palate is fleshy with jammy, ripe purple and black fruit tethering nicely to a slightly acidic finish - it won’t blow your eyebrows off! Hartley Family Wines’ ‘The Roving’ Barossa Valley Shiraz is the most senior in this pack, but don’t let its age fool you – it’s still well and truly in the game with big flavours of ripe black fruits championing French oak and spice and drinking beautifully right now. Geoff Hardy’s Pertaringa range is gaining some momentum with a stash of points including a 94 from Halliday. Florals come into focus immediately, with plums and black pepper on the nose. The palate reveals spiced black fruits with a long and strong finish. Cabernet fans will love Finniss River’s 2015 drop with its deep colour. There’s mulberry and blackberry tangled with cedar and a gorgeous line of cinnamon on the palate. Firm tannins are here, so cellar away! Curtis Cavaliere is also a cracking addition to the wine shelf from the same vintage. It’s got defined blue and red fruits on the nose with a familiar scent of Australian bottlebrush, destined for a Mediterranean jaunt with its saline finish. Drinking superbly now or put down for some fun.
