Red All About It

$150.00

Price as configured: $150.00

Wine of this quality at only $12.50 a bottle is more alarming than an unsolicited text message from the United Australia Party. A larger than life selection of wines featuring a few Cabs from Hesketh, Hidden Sea and Stable Hill, and Zonte’s Footstep’s “Italian Tricycle” Sangiovese, Barbera and Lagrein blend. Shiraz also gets fair and unbiased representation by way of Stalking Horse's rich and dark McLaren Vale Shiraz, and almost as big as CP himself, Martin’s Limited McLaren Vale Shiraz - one bottle alone at retail, covers the cost of entry here!

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Unlike receiving something from the United Australia Party, you want to get this message. The Martin’s Limited Shiraz has been well received by the Wine Direct faithful with its intense black and blue fruit and well-integrated oak. One bottle of this bad boy covers the cost of the other 11 bottles in the dozen. Not too shabby. The other Shiraz in the pack is a newcomer from Stalking Horse in the McLaren Vale. It has rich, traditional McLaren Vale black fruit, cherry, plum and chocolate with a vanillan backbone from the American oak. It isn’t often that Cabernet overshadows Shiraz in a pack but we have a few new Cabs to showcase, so we thought we’d put them front and centre! Phil Lehmann has been giving us some spectacular wine through the Hesketh label and this is no exception. Medium bodied by Coonawarra Cabernet standards but with plenty of leafy Cabernet goodness, tobacco and cassis. A lovely example of the region's finest grape. Keeping in the South East, The Hidden Sea’s Cabernet Sauvignon from the Limestone Coast has plenty of cherry, olive and plum with a smooth and long finish. The other Cabernet in this dozen is a new offering from the odd bunch at Stable Hill with their fantasy-themed Masked Knight Cabernet Sauvignon. Adelaide Hills Cabernet Sauvignon is very underrated given that it can be fantastic, as is the case with this Stable Hill Cab. Ripe blue and black berries with tomato leafiness and fine-grained tannin, perfect for a big rare steak! Much like the UAP themselves aspire to do, providing an alternative to the two-party preferred system of Shiraz and Cabernet is the Zonte’s Footstep Canto di Lago Sangiovese, Barbera and Lagrein blend, which is a perfect pairing for Italian food. Only $150 for the dozen, saving you over 70%! Make your wine supply great again!
