Produced in Piedmont, specifically in the famed Langhe Hills, this beautifully structured Nebbiolo is aged for 12 months in a combination of large format French oak and stainless steel. This is more approachable than an equivalent Nebb from Barolo, the tannins, whilst noticeable and an important part of the wines structure, being less strident than you'll find in most wines from nearby Barolo or Barbaresco. Lots going on here from violet and red fruit aromatics, fresh straw, vanilla, liquorice and spice through truffles, which will continue to develop as the wine ages, plus tobacco and dark chocolate. A stunner after decanting and will cellar magnificently.

Ca’ De Lion are a Piedmont producer who have been based in the Piedmont since 1655; making booze for the last 148 years. We’ve chosen to start with two of their brilliant Barberas. both from Asti. These are exceptional examples of Barbera and we are delighted to be able to share them with you.
Take a couple of chicken breasts and butterfly them. Add 2 crushed garlic cloves and 2 teaspoons of smoked hot Spanish pimento to chicken stock and simmer the breasts with until just cooked through.
Meals like this make us question our carnivorousness... a hearty vego option that is deliciousness personified...
Ingredients
Gnocchi 1 kg (approx) of Nicola Potatoes – washed, but not peeled 1 free range egg 250g (approx) of plain flour 1 pinch of Salt Mushroom Sauce 100g of Onion 500g of Mushrooms 150g of Butter 2 cloves of Garlic 150 ml of White wine 500ml of Cream Truffle Pecorino to finish Sliced chives to garnishMethod
1. Place potatoes in a pot of cold water, bring to the boil and simmer until cooked. 2. Strain potatoes and peel while still hot. 3. With a mouli or potato press mash potatoes on to a bench. 4. Add flour, salt and egg. 5. Mix gently until just combined and dough is slightly springy. 6. Divide dough into 6 and roll into long cigar shapes. 7. Cut into 3 cm lengths – roll on patterned block, grater, or fork. 8. In a large pot of boiling salted water add the gnocchi and stir gently. 9. We tasted hundreds of wines earlier this year at the massive German Trade wine fair, Prowein, at the Italian wine expo Vinitaly and throughout various Italian wine regions. Overseas we tasted and reviewed the wines at least twice and then we did it all again as a panel back in Australia, tasting and reviewing the best wines from those shortlisted for consideration.
