We don't often offer you packs filled with aged reds, because it is hard to track down really high quality aged reds in decent quantities. Then the tasting panel have to agree on all of them and we're an argumentative lot when it comes to wine. Fortunately, the stars and planets have aligned in this selection of cellared reds, sourced direct from the winery. Mitchell's beautiful, 96 point 2015 Peppertree Shiraz. JJ Hahn's mind bendingly open and nuanced, 96 point, 130 year old vine Shiraz. Sometimes you just want a red with a bit of experience under its belt- still offering the vivacious fruit of youth but with the rough edges knocked off, the fruit if anything more vibrantly on show thanks to the more harmonious structure underpinning it. So here’s a collection of pearlers, counting amongst their number are wonderful wines from Dandelion, Heirloom, Mitchell, Jeanneret, Kilikanoon, Chateau Bernot from Bordeaux, and more. A robust wine with black fruits matching its black label and undoubtedly black heart. What! That’s a nice thing to say about a wine and we reckon this is what Jack Sparrow might drink when the rum runs out. There’s also fruit as blue as Jack’s turn’o’phrase when the rum ration evaporates, and plenty of cedary oak and fine tannins to boot. It’s very good and hearty indeed me hearties… This will pair nicely with piratey staples like dried beef and pickled veg.
