A Very Special Grenache Dozen
We love Grenache here at WD, probably because in Aus, particularly SA where we live, we do Grenache as well as, maybe even better than, anywhere else in the world. In this doz you'll be getting Heirloom's '24 Alcala, perhaps the best Grenache, from the best place on earth to grow it, McLaren Vale. Dandelion's flagship Faraway Tree Grenache. Lone Palm's old vine beauty which is spicy and rich with gravelly tannins. The Pllana is a bright but densely fruited Barossa stunner. Rounding this out, Turkey Flat's magical GSM and Curtis' mid weight and fragrant beauty.
If you love Grenache, even if you just like it, this pack is very worthy of your consideration.

A fragrant yet intensely fruited wine packed with red fruits, spice and cedar, with exceptional length and depth of fruit. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, and sourced entirely from Dandelion's own Firehawk Farm vineyard, which is one of the very best in McLaren Vale. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years.
Another spellbinding Alcala Grenache; estate grown and entirely sourced from the Firehawk Farm vineyard. Ripe plush fruits of dark cherries and strawberry. Plenty of punchy, exaggerated aromatics from the high % of whole bunch in the ferment and a significant whack of new French oak. Brimming with life, bold, yet nuanced of fruit and just gorgeous.
Serious old vine Grenache this, with a degree of intensity you don’t always find in Grenache. As per every vintage released so far, the '24 is bolstered by the inclusion of some powerful, low yielding old vine Shiraz. Red and black fruit perfume abounds. Tannins are plentiful and silky, the fruits black, flecked with clove and black cherry. Best enjoyed after decanting.
This is supple old vine Barossa Grenache, wild fermented and then aged for 9 months in old French oak. It is already absolutely delicious but should be good for another decade, such is its balance and bright acidity. Red cherries, raspberries, a hint of cedar, and bright acid contrasted with a welcoming generosity of texture and spice. Wonderful.
A beautifully soft, savoury and complex red. A medium-bodied palate with red and black fruits. Layers of spice, dark plum and blackberries with plenty of fine tannins and a slightly rustic edge from the very high quality Mataro used here to finish the blend off. A lovely ‘welcome home’ glass which goes very nicely with dinner too.
