For the 15th consecutive year, winedirect.com.au has had the honour of being asked to curate the Official Royal Adelaide Wine Show Dozen. This is unequivocally the best to date.

Yep, for the first time ever, we’ve managed to secure 8 trophy winners. The quality of each wine is utterly exceptional. Incredibly, 10 of the 12 wines in this dozen were not just gold medal winners, but Top Gold winners, pointed equal top of their class in the initial judging. These wines have done well elsewhere too. The Majella Cab is Winestate’s Cabernet of the year and has won 4 trophies to date. The Redbrook Shiraz has picked up 9 gold medals in other wine shows. We suspect this pack will sell fast. So much goodness here in what is our most premium white pack in ages. It includes two First Creek Semillons, both of which picked up 96 points from Halliday, placing them equal fifth in a field of 180 tasted so far. Then there's a 96 point White Burgundy (aka Chardonnay) from Jean Loron which retails for $120 a bottle. Grant Burge's Savvy Blanc, which picked up the best SB trophy at the Adelaide Show. Plus Jeanneret's $40 a bottle, 96 point Watervale Riesling and Dowie Doole's exceptional, old vine Chenin Blanc. A bit more detail on this one, cos Chenin is not as well known as Rizza, Sem and Chardy. As Kim Brebach wrote when reviewing this wine, 'The best Aussie Chenin Blanc I’ve tasted, by a mile. The wine was matured in French oak, with some lees stirring I suspect. That has added complexity without suppressing the vibrant fruit ...
