Quaffers .

Jacob’s Creek – simple, red-fruited and easy drinking. Recognisably Pinot and very tasty

Not Quaffers .

Tomich – high-quality, muscular Adelaide Hills Pinot with three gold medals already.

Brancott – single vineyard, six gold medals. Red-fruited, light and fragrant — lip-smacking.

Riposte “Sabre” 2024 – Adelaide Hills power and fragrance. Esteemed UK wine journo Matthew Jukes rates this as one of the best-value Pinots on the planet.

Briar Ridge Block 6 – estate grown, hand harvested, whole-bunch fermented and foot stomped, then matured for six months in new French oak. The average score on our WD tasting panel was 96 points.

Heirloom Alcazar – fragrant while also being the most powerful Pinot in the pack. Exceptional.

    Wines In This Pack
    Adelaide Hills, SA
95pts James Halliday, 92pts Wine Pilot

Expressive, grounded, powerful, playful. This is an exceptional Pinot Noir sourced from a single vineyard in Charleston. Red and purple aromatics lead to a powerful yet aquiline palate offering roses, cherries, violets, spice, must and toastiness. The palate is long and the tannin finish fine. The acidity elevates the fruit. Exceptional.

    Orange, NSW
94pts Ken Gargett, 93pts Real Review

This is high altitude, cool climate Pinot made in the Burgundian tradition. It is estate grown, hand harvested. whole bunch fermented and foot stomped, then spends 6 months in new French oak. It's superb already and will unleash layers of complexity as it ages. Our average score on the tasting panel was nudging 96, which is pretty unusual.

    Marlborough, NZ
    6 x Gold Medals

Mid-weight, easy drinking and varietal, this offers spice, cherries, violet, red fruits, beetroot, savoury characters and plenty of relatively fine tannins. It is super easy to drink but could be cellared for 5 years we reckon.

    Adelaide Hills, SA
    95pts Int. Melbourne Wine Competition

The Sabre is always an excellent wine, but as UK wine writer Matthew Jukes says of the '24, 'one of the finest value Pinots on Earth'. There is an expressive red fruited perfume here, spice and red fruits, black cherry, smoke and more on the palate and exceptional length.

    Adelaide Hills, SA
    3 x Gold Medals, 93pts Wine Pilot

Ken Gargett, from Wine Pilot, sums it up beautifully...

"From a single vineyard in the Woodside sub-region of the Adelaide Hills, the fermentation was with wild yeasts and 30% whole bunches. Fermentation is in small batch open fermenters. The wine then enjoys eighteen months maturation in French barrels, 20% of which were new. Notes of spices, bright red fruits, red cherries, florals, hints of forest floor characters and animal skins. Red currants and raspberries emerge on the palate. This has bright acidity running the full journey, sleek tannins, balance and exemplary length. Drink for four to eight years. Love it, a Pinot of grace".

    Australia
This is a medium-bodied, easy drinking Pinot fragrant with and tasting of black cherry, strawberry and a little spice. Oak is nicely integrated, tannins are soft and the balance is bang on. Get into it with duck, salmon, or whatever you like really.
