    Wines In This Pack
    Côtes du Rhône, France
    95pts Sam Kim
Red fruited, black fruited, aromatic, juicy, rich, with satsuma plum fleshiness and juice. Cloves, smoked meat, cinnamon and spice. Powerful! Opens superbly with decanting and definitely worth having with food. This is an organic and biodynamic wine. There is a little CO2 trapped in the wine as a preservative, so give it a vigorous decant before drinking.
    Bardolino, Italy
    94pts Sam Kim
Its bigger than Pinot, and of course has a different flavour profile, but in the UK plenty of punters who drink Pinot are equally enamoured of Bardolino. 'But it is made from the same grapes as Amarone', we hear you say. It is, and Bardolino is only half an hour from that region, but the wines are altogether brighter and far more delicate than you'll find there. This Bardolino sees about 6 months in oak, followed by some time in tank prior to bottling – red fruits and violet form the nose. It is red fruity, pulpy and fleshy and finishes tight and dry, with excellent length, minerality, plenty of acid and fine tannins. Drink it with rich meaty dishes or oily fish. Definitely a food wine and absolutely worth decanting.
    Barossa Valley, SA
    92pts Sam Kim
A beautifully soft, savoury and complex red. A medium-bodied palate with red and black fruits. Layers of spice, dark plum and blackberries with plenty of fine tannins and a slightly rustic edge from the very high quality Mataro used here to finish the blend off. A lovely ‘welcome home’ glass which goes very nicely with dinner too.
    McLaren Vale, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 95pts Kim Brebach, 92pts James Halliday, 2 Gold
Durif is the genetic offspring of Shiraz and Pelourisin. It’s rare and we love it here at WD. It is drought tolerant and retains acidity and bright fruit even when very ripe. Handled well it makes fruit-dense yet lively wines with an inky core and a strong spine of acidity. Winemakers use phrases like ‘Shiraz on steroids' and ‘akin to drinking fountain pen ink’ to describe it. This Curtis edition is a little more elegant than most and packs plums, blackberries, black cherries, black olive, vanilla, cedar, and more into a thyme spritzed package which is gorgeously sumptuous.
    Fleurieu Peninsula, SA
5 Golds, 94pts James Halliday, 94pts Sam Kim, 94pts Wine Showcase Magazine
Primarily Sangiovese, the Canto, as has become the norm, also contains 12% Lagrein. As was the case with the previous vintages, savoury notes, red fruit and black cherry on the palate with the addition of some pleasing peppercorn spice and a hint of malt. Still screams out to be paired equally well with chargrilled meat or wood oven pizza.
    Geographe, WA
92pts Sam Kim, 92pts Kim Brebach
Lush and aromatic, this beautifully slurpable Touriga Nacional offers blueberry, plum, blackberry, cocoa, red fruits and cinnamon. Wonderful at room temp, it is also great after 20 mins in the fridge. We love it.
