Drum roll please, here’s the new release Cabernet from Curtis Family Vineyards Cavaliere which winemaker Mark rates as the best wine he made from the 2018 vintage! Lots going on here, from plums, mint, violet, tobacco, salinity, and a good whack of vanilla oak which adds a suggestion of sweetness without overwhelming the fruit. Sumptuous.

Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Tempranillo 2019

This wine from Heirloom Vineyards is black/purple in colour. Very dark. A wonderful perfume of black cherries, oregano, just ripe plums and maraschino cherries mingling with black pepper cola and graphite. Fruits are juicy, the finish dry. Big, black, structural and intense.

You can purchase your bottle by clicking HERE.

Mount Avoca Estate Organic Tempranillo 2019

Lots of cola, aniseed and cloves on the nose, in this wine from Mount Avoca. The palate reflects this and builds with blackberries, coffee bean and liquorice. There’s a good whack of acidity here too, keeping everything fresh and bright, pushing fruit forward to a long finish.

You can find out more about this wine HERE

Alpha Crucis Shiraz 2019

Good acid and a mineral line give support to stonefruits, mealy characters, and a suggestion of gently toasted hazelnuts.

You can find out more about this wine HERE.

Howard Vineyard Adelaide Hills Pinot Chardonnay 2021

Howard Vineyard Adelaide Hills Amos Chardonnay is a a mid-weight Chardonnay which walks a line between generous and elegant and does it well. Excellent fruit intensity in this medium bodied wine which offers white peach, hazelnuts and crème brulee. A wine that has you pouring a second glass.

Colab and Bloom Nero d’Avola 2020

The 2020 Colab and Bloom Nero d’Avola is a medium-bodied yet fruit intense, Single Vineyard Nero from the Fleurieu Peninsula. We found, crunchy red fruits, black cherries, musk, and plenty of spices. Gorgeous by itself or with something Italian, like a fig and prosciutto pizza.

You can read more about this wine HERE.

Leconfield Syn Sparkling Coonawarra Rosé

This wine from Leconfield & Richard Hamilton Wines, McLaren Vale the Syn Sparkling Coonawarra Rosé, is a slightly pink wine. It’s labelled rosé but to us seems much more like a traditional cool climate Chardy Pinot sparkling and a bloody good one at that. It has a very fine bead, aromas of stonefruit and red fruits along with a little brioche. Flavours follow suit and introduce cherries and a creamy aspect. This is delicious.

You can read more about this wine HERE.

Heirloom Vineyards Alcala Grenache 2020

The Heirloom Vineyards Alcala Grenache 2020 is a relatively big and rich Grenache offering red fruits, woodsmoke and lavender on the nose. The palate is full, loaded with blackberries, red fruits, savoury aspects and herbs. Needs decanting or cellaring.

Find out more about this wine HERE.

Chalk Hill Vermentino 2021

This wine from Chalk Hill Wines is sourced from a single vineyard in Willunga. This Vermentino is a crisp offering of laden citrus, sea spray, bay leaves and guava. Perhaps the perfect summer lunch accompaniment to salads and fish dishes.

You can read more about this wine HERE.

Chalk Hill Clarendon Syrah 2018

The Chalk Hill Wines Clarendon Syrah has been awarded 97 points from Halliday, for this temperate climate Shiraz sourced from an exceptional vineyard in Clarendon. Clarendon is actually part of McLaren Vale and is a little higher above sea level and cooler than the McLaren average. The result is a longer ripening time and the ability to tease higher fruit intensity and purity at a slightly lower alcohol level. This brings balance; critical for enjoyable early drinking, and longevity to the wine. So whilst this is superb already it should still be drinking well in 2050 if stored well. Black cherries, white pepper, blue and black fruits, spice, licorice, and fine-grained tannins mark this as a wine of poise and class.

Perched on top of the Manser vineyard is small, productive four acres of shiraz planted on rich, red soil enjoying full sun during the growing season. This release is both powerful and refined, with black fruits resolving into cedar, vanilla and fine tannins. The finish is rich and long.

Martins Vineyard Limited McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018

This wine from Curtis Family Vineyards is unequivocally an even better edition of the Martin’s than we have seen previously, which is perhaps no surprise given it is a product of the 2018 vintage. Again, we see relatively low alcohol for a big Aussie red which, perhaps counterintuitively, allows the wine to appear as more fruit dense and concentrated than it might if it were half a degree or a full degree more ‘potent’. Fruits are blacks and blues, depth and length are superb, cedar and vanilla are a perfumed accompaniment to the fruit rich nose, and the tannins, polished, waxy and plentiful. The overall package, outstanding!

You can read more about this wine HERE.

Lienert Vineyards 'Sieben Klon' Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019

The intention of the Lienert Vineyards 'Sieben Klon' Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019, was to make a wine which is floral and beguiling on the nose, densely fruited on the palate, long, complex and bloody awesome. Anyways, we love this wine and encourage you to give it a rip.

Longview Macclesfield Grüner Veltliner 2021

The Longview Vineyard Macclesfield Grüner Veltliner 2021 is an extraordinarily complex wine. This is prettily perfumed with juniper, white pepper, pear, apple, guava and a waft of cinnamon wending their way through your olfactories. The palate is textural, slightly grainy and long with a decent whack of acid coiling around the fruit and generating a sense of life and energy. Sorry, this product is not available individually, but you can get it in The 2021 Official Royal Adelaide Wine Show Dozen - Mixed HERE.

Stonehouse Neldner Vineyard Barossa Valley Icon Shiraz 2020

The StoneHouse Neldner Vineyard Barossa Valley Icon Shiraz is handpicked grapes from an 80-year-old contoured vineyard in Gomersal. Long slow fermentation including 10% whole bunch over 10 days before basket pressing into 30% new French and 70% older oak. A spicy and brightly fruited nose leads to a palate with exceptional concentration and structure. Red fruits, black fruits, compote, coffee grounds, plum, star anise, cocoa powder, black tea and fine, powdery tannins to finish. Really beautifully balanced.

You can get your bottle HERE.

Kilikanoon Meyman's Riesling 2020

Pasha McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018

This wine from Curtis Family Vineyards is thrilling! It’s old-school but perfectly balanced. ‘Tis packed with uber ripe, suppurating black fruits, dark cherry, compote, notes of furniture polish and spice, black pepper, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. The richness is tamed with good acidity, providing a backbone for all that expressiveness to hang on to and in so doing, show to best effect. Stunning! ????

Curtis Small Batch Early Release Grenache 2021

The @curtisvineyards Small Batch Early Release Grenache 2021 id produced from 120-year-old bush vines, it's an exceptionally concentrated wine. Dark fruits are bolstered with red as the wine straddles the line between confection and good black stuff and the wine finishes with super fine tannins. Superb.

Have a look at this wine HERE.

Lienert Vineyards 'Sieben Klon' Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019

Lienert Vineyards have been farming in the Barossa for 150 years and decided to add some vines to their property about 20 years ago.

When they decided to start making booze, we conspired with them to come up with a wine from the best parcels of their best seven clonal selections of Shiraz. The intention – to make a wine which is floral and beguiling on the nose, densely fruited on the palate, long, complex and bloody awesome. For this very special wine, each clone was harvested and fermented separately (you can see details on the clones below!) with the harvest date chosen to allow each grape to express its best characters. The case of EVOS12 (Eden Valley clone) was harvest earlier than the others to allow for a beautiful perfume and liveliness in the final wine. Fermentation is done in tiny open top fermenters which are hand plunged up to four times a day. Certain clones are fermented cooler to better express delicate aromatics whilst some are plunged and pumped over to achieve a more structural element. The trick is finding the right balance. Anyways, we love this wine and encourage you to give it a rip.

The Leo Buring, Clare Valley Dry Riesling 2021 has a classic nose of lime, lemon and talcum powder. The acidity is high but well countered by a generous mouthfeel. The palate is awash with lemons and limes, length and persistence are both excellent.
